Aunt Callie and Uncle Sam lived and raised their children in Beech Hill, the Lisbon area. Although I was pretty young, I do remember when they moved back to Mt. Sinai and built their home there.
I remember Aunt Callie very well. Plumer would take us there for dinner some Sundays. Anyone who ate there remembers her famous Egg Custard.
Aunt Callie passed away on April 30, 1998. She was 102 years old.

PLUMMER BELL, SR was born on August 10, 1894
He was married to ULA HAY. He served in World War I and was stationed at Camp Grant, IL.
He was in common law marriage for many years to SHINET GEORGE. He helped raise her daughter, Eleze Birch Bell, Eleze's daughters, Willie Drew Bell Kemp and Vata Mae Bell Cheatum. He and Shinet George had a son, Pongee who passed at age 12. They had an empty nest in 1959 when they took another of Shinet's grandchildren. That was me, Pearlena Hay Bell and Union Bell's youngest daughter.
Like most of his brothers he had started out working for his father. In later years he had his own smaller farm and had horses at one time, I'm told. I was told that he was a rowdy guy in his young days and as the youngest son, he may have been spoiled. What I remember is him being quiet, kind of a loner. He raised cows; Herefords and Jerseys. Although he was a sportsman, he was also much like his brother, George Bell, Jr in the way he was about his vehicles and how he dressed when he went out. He bred and hunted Redbone Coonhounds and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He passed away on June 6, 1974 at 79 years old.

TRUDIE BELL SANDERS was born in April 1891
TRUDIE BELL SANDERS married WILLIAM "Roof" H. SANDERS possibly in 1922
Records show that Aunt Trudie was living in Lafayette, AR in 1920 with her sister, Annie "Babe" and her husband, Lewis Thrist.
In 1930 and 1940 she was living in what was now called Camden, AR with her husband, William "Roof" Sanders.
I remember us (Plummer Bell, Sr., Shinet George and me) visiting her in Camden. Once I recall Aunt Mae Willie Randolph Bell and my Daddy, Union Bell driving there with us. Not far from her house, I believe there was a store run by Uncle "Roof"'s son. I don't remember his name. At one time I believe that Aunt Mattie Bell Wilson and Aunt Annie "Babe" Thrist Browning both lived with Aunt Trudie and her husband. I know this is where Aunt Babe was before coming back to Louisiana to live with us. In the latter years of her life Aunt Trudie also came back to Louisiana and lived with Aunt Callie Bell Washingston until she passed away. I don't have a record of her death.

Lonnie Bell, Jr.
Plummer Bell, Jr. "Sugar Boo"
Louis Bell, Sr. "Buster"
They also raised their granddaughter, Pattie Sue Bell Kyle. Their grandsons, Famios and Louis also lived with them for many years.
Lonnie Bell Sr. served in World War I. I'm not sure of all the places he went, but know that his ship went to France. He played the bugle which was a stand out position in his military company. In the early 40's as a young preacher, he and his family moved to San Francisco where they started Bell Chapel CME Church. He and Willie Hay Bell worked there for the government. Upon retiring in the late 60's they moved back to Louisiana. I knew him very well and spent a lot of time at their home since he lived across the road from his baby brother, Plummer, Sr (where I lived) and since his wife, Willie Hay Bell was Mama's aunt.
He passed away on November 3, 1976. He was 87 years old.

MATTIE BELL WILSON was born in September 1888 or 1889.
What I remember being told about her is that she at one time lived near and/or with her sisters who had moved to Arkansas (Annie & Trudie). She may have also lived with her Uncle Alf and his family in Homer.
She had one son: Tommie Bean
Although, I couldn't find a record of her death, I know she was buried at Mt. Sinai and remember Tommie Bean visiting his mother's grave whenever he came to Louisiana from Los Angeles

My sister, Jean mentions that he was very well dressed, articulate and had gone to college. She said he was well loved in the community. Jean stated that Aunt "Mandy" was a school teacher and played piano. She managed her daughters singing group. They traveled around to different communities singing and were called The Bell Sisters. My sister, Mary "Billie" remembers how meticulous he was about his car. I don't have a picture of him. We called him Uncle Little George. I recall that he lived in Homer and would sometimes come out to visit. He would also give a ride to those who got off the Trailways bus in Homer needing a ride to Summerfield (Mt. Sinai). He would always visit family on these trips.
He passed on January 7, 1980. He was 92 years old.

I don't have a picture of her and all I remember being told is that she married a man whose last name was Adams and that she passed away at least before her father, George Bell, Sr. did. I recall a man coming to visit us once. Her brother, Plumer called him something like Ash or Ashton and said it was her son. Plumer called her Willie.

Next- Level Ninth Episcopal District Mission & Vision: Reaching beyond where we are to where you belong! The Scripture; II Corinthians 10:3-5 & 14

“We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. “We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.” “We are not reaching beyond these boundaries when we claim authority over you, as if we had never visited you. For we were the first to travel all the way to Corinth with the Good News of Christ.”
